Outside of Duck Whistle, I have been doing the following roles.
- Working as a Data Specialist in The University of Manchester Library (see the Business Research Plus blog and Library Research Plus blog)
- Working as a Research Assistant at Alliance Manchester Business School (see the Phil Reed Data blog)
In these concurrent posts, I have been supporting academic researchers and students to access and exploit specialist financial and company databases, mostly in the area of Business and Management. I have written software in Python, Java and VBA and make expert use of the platforms provided by the database suppliers such as Bloomberg Professional and Thomson Reuters Datastream. I am also a ‘Digital Pioneer’ in the Library and have been following and leading in the development of Digital Humanities.
In June 2016 I attained certification in Bloomberg Market Concepts.
